Our Worsted Gotland wool is naturally coloured and sold in 100g balls. It’s perfect for knitting, dyeing, and crocheting.
Gotland’s are a Scandinavian sheep breed first brought to the UK in the 1970’s they are prized for their silvery, lustrous curls and their wool is notoriously pleasant to work with.
Worsted wool is processed differently to standard wools giving it a much silkier finish which is perfect for showing off the lustre of our Gotland curls.
Worsted wools are interchangeable with aran weight wools which are slightly thicker. Aran weight is sometimes known as heavy worsted. It knits on 4.50mm needles and is perfect for patterns that include cables and other textural stitches.
All the wool sold in our shop comes from our own well tended flock of woolly sheep. Who graze on wildflower pastures throughout the year as part of a regenerative farming practice. Find out more about our farm here: www.lowauldgirth.co.uk
Our Gotland wool is grown on our farm in Scotland, shorn on farm, and processed in the UK. We are very conscious about keeping our carbon footprint as low as possible, and our products as local as possible.
